PapillionBusinesses.com Interview with Erin Kampschneider

Erin Kampschneider

Please tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Erin Kampschneider and I am from Fremont, NE. I have an 18 year old son who is a senior in high school who will study Broadcasting next year in college. I am a strong advocate for animal rescues and have been involved in the rescuing community for over 12 years. Personally, I have fostered over 100 dogs and transported hundreds more from shelters around the Midwest safely into our rescues.

What did you do before working at Shadow Lake Towne Center?

For the past 25 years, I have done both Marketing and Freelance Graphic Design as a living. Directly before coming to Shadow Lake, I was working in-house with Access, a commercial real estate company in Omaha. I was in charge of all of their marketing materials, both creating and designing. One of their clients was Shadow Lake Towne Center, whom I had created a marketing booklet for. After a meeting with the new owners of Shadow Lake (Prep Property Group), the Vice President of Leasing asked if I would be interested in working for the property. Shortly after, I started at Shadow Lake, which was about 4 years ago. In June of 2022, I took over as Director of Marketing.

How did you come to work at Shadow Lake Towne Center?

See above 😊 I started out just doing design work for the property under the Director of Marketing, Brian Lemon. When he took another job, I was offered the position, as it was a natural transition since I had been working closely with him for years.

What is your goal as the Marketing Director?

My goal is to make people aware of Shadow Lake and have it be their prime destination for shopping. The mall is growing quickly and adding new stores on a monthly basis. I would like to spread our reach farther into the surrounding areas, such as Omaha and Gretna. During this past year, I have learned that many people are not aware of the mall until they come to one of our events.

Please tell us about Shadow Lake Towne Center.

Shadow Lake is an 880,000+ square foot outdoor mall located on the southwest corner of 72nd Street and Highway 370 in Papillion, NE. Our anchor stores include Dicks Sporting Goods, Home Goods, TJMaxx, PetSmart, Burlington and many other national and regional tenants. Our towne center includes Old Navy, Michaels, Victoria’s Secret and many locally owned shops, such as World of Wonder and Gypsy Plum.

What role does Shadow Lake Towne Center play in the economic landscape of Papillion?

Shadow Lake is the destination shopping center for all of Sarpy County. We provide not only shopping, entertainment and dining for the area, but also a large amount of jobs.

What do you like about Papillion?

I love the sense of community. I feel the people of Papillion are very connected to one another and they care about what is happening around them. They are quick to shop and support local and love the feeling of giving back to their city.

You have a great Papillion event coming up. Please tell us about it.

We will be having our first ever, Blizzard Bash on Saturday, February 10th 2024. This has been a year in the planning and I am very excited about it. We will shut down the street from Copps Pizza to Kay Jewelers for this outdoor event. It begins at 2pm and runs until 8pm. Orlando Sculpture Firm, LLC all the way from Florida will be doing live ice carving all day. Sculptures will be over 7 feet tall. In addition, we will have live music by Highway 6 performing in our heated tents. Texas Roadhouse will be selling food and alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Guests can also grab a hot chocolate from our local store, Chocolaterie Stam. From 2-4pm, we will have winter themed characters roaming for the kids.

What’s next on the horizon for Shadow Lake Towne Center?

As the Marketing Director, my goal is to not only bring awareness of the mall, but to bring the community together through unique and fun family events. We have had great success with hosting local vendor shows and plan to continue with those. We will host a BINGO night where all proceeds will go to local dog rescues. Last year, we started a Cars & Coffee on Saturday mornings that quickly grew into a huge success and will start those back up when the weather is nice. We have our Summer Concert Series beginning in June, with a surprise band on July 26th in from Kansas City. I am constantly striving to bring new ideas to the mall and the best way to learn about them is to follow us on Facebook.

Thank you.
