Selfie WRLD Interview for Please tell us a little about yourself.

Kate Sorensen:  The owners of SelfieWRLD Omaha are entrepreneurs at heart. We have young kids that are involved in our communities and love having an impact on the lives of individuals.

We are also ridiculously happy and uplifting, so the “Love Your Selfie” mantra of Selfie WRLD is what we hope to impress on others. How did you come to be in this business?

Kate Sorensen:  When the pandemic was nearing its end, the owners/friends knew that bringing a concept like Selfie WRLD to the greater Omaha area would be a welcome concept. It was finally time to start seeing people SMILE again!

Selfie WRLD is the #1 Trending Selfie Museum in the country with a combined 500,000 social media followers. We will soon have over 40 franchises from coast to coast. The original location was in Des Moines, Iowa and it has grown from there. Each location is managed individually by local individuals, no corporate money involved, all local small businesses.

Selfie WRLD TRULY feels like a family business (because it really is!) The CEO even has her Dad and Aunt both on her staff! Please describe your business.

Kate Sorensen: Selfie WRLD Omaha is a 5,000 sq. foot space with new, interactive and innovative photo booths that are each themed.

Inside Selfie WRLD Omaha you’ll find 20+ photo opportunities to get that perfect pic – whether for a birthday, last day of school, prom, senior photos, family pictures or social media profile pictures.

Remember Glamour shots?? Yah – like that, but not nearly as cheesy! Ha! Please tell us about your different rooms.

Kate Sorensen: From an LED pool pit to a bathtub filled with “bubbles”, sports room with bleachers, an illusion room where you can “climb the wall”, a diner with a real working jukebox, swings, a coffee diner, a “shoot your shot” with a basketball hoop you can actually sit on, and of all things, a jumbo sized lip couch – there is a room that can fit into anyone’s life. What is included with your ticket?

Kate Sorensen: When each group is welcomed into Selfie WRLD Omaha, they receive their own ring light with a quick tutorial from our staff that will give them the perfect lighting for their pictures as well as a remote timer to connect to their phone wirelessly and use with their phone’s camera (Hello, not having to use a timer – YAY!)

The ring light also has a holder for your phone inside the ring to get the perfect shots! Please tell us about the different uses for these rooms.

Kate Sorensen: anything and everything How does booking a room or rooms work?

Kate Sorensen: Walkins are welcome at Selfie WRLD Omaha, however, as time slots start to fill up, you may want to reserve your tickets online at to get the best experience.

Kate Sorensen: No! We welcome photographers with open arms and are so happy to have them use our space.

Photographers pay regular admission, and the same goes with their clients. We even have four dressing rooms for the photographer’s client to change their outfits in.

Each dressing room has a key, so the client can leave their belongings in the fitting room and carry the key with them inside the store until they’re finished with their session!

Do you know a professional photographer? We would love for them to email us at to collaborate! Do people spend the whole one hour time slot inside Selfie WRLD Omaha?

Kate Sorensen: YES! As long as we aren’t sold out for the upcoming timeframe, they are welcome!

We often have people buy a second hour when their hour is up!

New Papillion Restaurant: Ika San at Shadow Lake Towne Center

There is a new and wonderful restaurant in Papillion, Ika San.

Enjoy Japanese food in a contemporary “urban”setting with walls decorated with graffiti art and ceiling with lanterns. This new Papillion business opened its doors today for a soft opening for invited guests.

The graffiti artist has rendered, DaRuMa among its images to delight and interest the dining guest. As told by staff, DaRuMa is a wish grantor from stories of old. He has one eye that shows you that you will have to give him the other eye or something important to grant your wish. The hair for his eyebrows represent the crane, a symbol of prosperity. The moustache represents the tortoise, a symbol of longevity.

Also decorating the walls are a multiplicity of Lucky Cats with their animated moving paw.  Lucky Cat brings up fond memories for me with my youngest. One of her favorite restaurants had a Lucky Cat with its paw moving. She would spend much of her time at lunch waving back to the fortunate granting feline.

I chose the Spicy Seafood Ramen Broth, it was a delightful adventure in every spoonful. Somehow a rich dense  flavorful broth tasted and felt light. It was a tasty contradiction of depth and airiness. The aroma was wonderful and it was very hard to wait to eat it, so I could take pictures.

Enjoy the pictures until you can get there and enjoy the food! I’ll be adding more here when I return. The menu includes many and varied things such as rice bowls, ramen soups and sushi.
