St. Vincent de Paul News

From Molly Lamczyk

Breaking News – Your help is needed!

The St. Vincent de Paul ministry is all about helping the poor, giving folks a hand
when they hit a bump in the road. Have you ever wanted to give to the poor but
wanted to do something other than a cash donation? This is your opportunity to do
some hands-on giving with either volunteer work and/or shopping, helping
the poor in two different ways!

We are so excited to announce the opening of a new St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store
in Papillion at 807 Tara Plaza. The proceeds from this store will benefit the poor
in the entire Omaha area, including Papillion, LaVista and Ralston.

Your help is needed!

Since the proceeds from the store will be going to help the poor, corners are being
cut as much as possible: the store will operate on faith and volunteers, with a
few paid employees.

Please consider volunteering to help it get set up and for general ongoing store
operations. We know this is a giving community, and this is where we are operating on
faith. People of all faiths are invited to help the poor through volunteer work.

Please reply to this email or call if you are interested in volunteering.

There is a volunteer meeting on Tuesday, November 17 at 3:00 at 807 Tara Plaza.
If you are at all interested in volunteering, please join us! It truly is a blessing
working side-by-side with others to get things set up and running. You will see the
fruits of your labor as the store progresses to opening day. Your help is needed
starting November 18.

We will continue to need volunteers after the store opens for general store
operations. Let us know what you’d like to do.

If you are unable to make the November 17 meeting, please contact us and let us know
how you are interested in helping. Generally, we will be open Monday through
Saturday and will need volunteers on those days.

We are having a special pre-opening sale and special hours November 27, 28 and 29!

Special, One-Time-Only Hours:
Friday 10:00 am-6:00 pm
Saturday 10:00 am-6:00 pm
Sunday 1:00 pm-6:00 pm

After this special weekend sale blitz, our regular store hours will be Monday
through Friday, 9:00 am-6:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am-7:00 pm.

Bring your church bulletin and a donation to receive a 10% discount on your entire
purchase! Look for lots of furniture and Christmas items!

St. Vincent de Paul is a ministry within the Catholic Church that helps people of
all denominations. If you are in need, call your local Catholic church for assistance
and ask for their St. Vincent de Paul group. If the closest Catholic Church does not
have a group, please contact the Omaha St. Vincent de Paul office at 402-346-5445.

After the store opens, you can drop your donation off at the Tara Plaza Store at 807
Tara Plaza or call Linda Kueper at 402-578-4121 for a truck to pick up large items in
good condition.

Where is the Papio Pumpkin Patch? Right here in Papillion at Hy-Vee!

One of the ways my family marks the arrival of fall is the arrival of pumpkins at Hy-Vee. While Fall technically arrived yesterday and the pumpkins a bit before, most of them were washed this morning and put out on the hay bales for display.

Check them out at your Papillion  Hy-Vee store. Hy-Vee is well known in the area for their contributions to the community.
