Papilion Event: Veterans Park Dedication

The dedication ceremony for Veterans Park was held today. The weather was rainy, but the hearts and sentiments were warm.

The guest speakers for this Papillion event included:

American Legion Post 32 Chaplain Jim Albright
Mayor David Black
World War II, Korea and Vietnam Veteran Cliff Pratt
Nebraska State Legion Commander Mike Reimers

Bagpipes were played by Lyle Walker from Omaha Pipes and Drums.

Music was beautifully performed by the USAF Heartland of America Band’s Offutt Brass.

The colors were presented by Papillion’s own American Legion Post 32.

Special thank yous to a veteran who helped me take videos, who put his yellow knit hat over my camera, and to the ladies from Soundz of Freedom who helped carry the tripod in the rain. It is people like this that make our state of Nebraska and our country so great: people in everyday situations willing to help a neighbor and people who sacrificed so much for our country.

This was in the midst of a tornado watch for southeastern Nebraska, storms and snow falling in North Platte.
